Hitch-hiking race
According to Google Maps is it 372 km from Taupo to Wellington. We started off at 10 am with 4 other guys (Linus and his friends) and we all hitch-hiked two and two. It took us about 6 hours. We got 2nd.
"The 3 girls that been on a wedding", our first ride and they drove us for about 2,5 hours.

"The three Uni-students", about an hour.

"The cute girl", last hour into Cuba St., Wellington

Rotorua
We're in Rotorua, it stinks äggfjärt!
My dream car
We got our best hitch-hiking-day so far! First we got picked up in a Porsche Cayenne (my dream car) by a businessman with a Swedish business, Nordic Savings and Trust. He drove us about 2/3 of the distance we needed to go and we had a nice chat all the way. Then we got a second lift by a truck-driver who had a really nice seat far up above everybody else on the road. Now we're at Linda's place! OOps, Richard are about the get a hair-cut, I have to stop it!
Decisions
The cashier refused us to buy beer yeasterday cause we only had our driving license and not our passport with us. Apperently not enough to be 22 and 25 years old. Mind you, the age limit here is 18.
We're heading to Huntly today by Hicth-hiking. Also need to decide what to do on Saturday, either:
1. Walk a one-day hike with 88 other couchsurfers and celebrate with BBQ in the evening
OR
2. Meet Linus with friends in Taupo and go out for the night and then wake up early on Sundaymorning to compete in a "Hitch-hiking-race" down to Wellington.

Auckland
New Zealand is spectacular! Absolutely beautiful nature with mountains, clear rivers and lots of forest. We have travelled through the North Island with the campervan for the past five days and loved it. We're now in Auckland with Sandya, whom is hosting us. WE baked her some Swedish cinnamon rolls yesterday and realized that they don't sell parlsocker here...
Sandya took us to Longbay this noon but now it's raining.

Old friends in Wellington
We're now in Wellington, New Zealand, at Linus' place. Linus my old dear classmate from Jonkoping. So we booked flights this last Friday, flew over here on Sunday night and are now having dinner with an old friend here :) Great how travelling plans could change as long as you are flexible. By the way, we're also travelling around with our 4th campervan that we'll bring all the way up to Auckland.
Hunting
We have had some days in Byron and a night in the Rainbow Temple (read hippie temple) and are now in Tweed Heads with Brenda and Michael. They took us out yesterday for some Cane toad-hunting:

We're also in between two areas that been caught by floods and high level of water. Brenda have the TV running all day with terrible news but we haven't seen any signs of the floods where we been travelling, actually it's sunny here today! However, we booked flights to New Zealand because of the weather conditions up north and flying over to Christchurch on Sunday!!!! :)
Farewell Sydney
We're saying farewell to our friends in Sydney this morning. We could have stayed longer in this big city that has a lot to offer but we have a new campervan-mission to complete. We're going to pick-up a new fantastic vehicle to take up along the coast and drop-off at Ballina Airport tomorrow afternoon. So we're hopefully sleeping in Byron Bay tomorrow. Tomorrow on my birthday.
Bondi
If you stroll down the city centre of Sydney will every third person you pass have their bath towel over their shoulder and probably their beachwear on. Why? Cause Sydney is one BIG beach-town! And the most popular beach most be Bondi Beach.

But there are still some travellers who don't appreciates the over-crowded tourist-beach that Bondi is:

And some who tries to keep the mood up:

Mörbultade
Yesterday, Pete took us with him to his dragon-boat rowing practice. It was a lot of fun but really hard work! We're in pain today... But it was great to see Sydney from the water even though I never got the chance to enjoy the view...
Experiences
We're still in Sydney and are now staying with Pete & Mau, two friends of my that I met in Vietnam last year. Lovely guys! Before this were we staying with Sek-Mun, a super cool couchsurfer. All these guys have taken us for heaps of fun experiences, such as the fireworks over harbour bridge and Sydney opera house, first sunrise of the year, worship at life church and Brasilian stew dinner!
We're off for Newtown now.
