Who are these people?

I think that all people on this earth (no matter of race, gender, values or believes) can agree that they have a need to believe that the human race gonna continue walk on this globe after us. Even if you don't believe in science I think you feel an inner-voice that says your genes have to continue on this world. No one wants the human race to become extinct. We all wanna have children.
So how come then that so many people on this earth have books, prophets and gods that tells us how sex is shameful and how the women's periods are dirty. Who are these people to pull darkness over the factors that creates new human beings?
